“Winemaker Mike Lee continues to prove his prowess with Sauvignon Blanc in this latest vintage of Patianna, Patti Fetzer’s line of organically farmed wines from outside of Hopland in Mendocino County. Fermented entirely in stainless steel without undergoing ML or barrel aging, it delivers everything you love about the variety, inviting one in with melon and minerality, then following through with a surprising creaminess and almost decadent, mousse-like finish”, Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast, July 2011

2008 Sauvignon Blanc

“Patianna has a very good track record with this unoaked variety. The ’08 is a very dry, very crisp in citrusy acids, and complex, with New Zealand style flavors of gooseberries, white currants, minerals and geraniums in addition to riper flavors of pineapples, limes and sweet Meyer lemons” Steve Heimoff, February 2010
LIP SMACKING GOOD, Oakland Tribune
“This dry, crisp Patianna Sauvignon Blanc is made with biodynamically farmed grapes in gravelly Mendocino soil. The result is a refreshing and full of minerals. If you like the New Zealand style, you’ll be stoked to drink this refreshing, screw capped wine. It’s bright, fresh, and has all the tangy citrus and gooseberry flavors plus the acidity you come to expect from this variety. It’s a bargain at $14 if you ask me.
I love cooking with this style of white wine. I came home after the gym and tossed a splash of the Patianna with two handfuls of sliced cherry tomatoes, three cloves of garlic, certified California olive oil, parsley, butter and some butterflied shrimp. I poured the whole thing over some basil pasta and added a squeeze or two of fresh lemon. It was to die for. The wine cut the sweetness of the cherries and the richness of the shrimp, butter and oil. The lemon squeeze really mirrored the citrus flavor in the wine. Try it!!” Jessica Yadegaran, Oakland Tribune, April 2010

“Attractive, floral, elegant, slightly grassy aroma with hints of lime zest and lychee nut; medium to medium-full body clean, herbal, slightly grassy, citrusy flavors; lingering aftertaste.” Nick Ponomareff, Spring 2010

“Wine writer Peg Melnik scopes out wine lists around the North Bay, looking for good value and the occasional splurge. This week’s picks include Patianna, 2008 Mendocino Sauvignon Blanc, $18. Grassy, with notes of grapefruit, lime and jalapeno. Silky texture. High-toned fruit. Zesty finish.” Peg Melnik, December 2009

“Shows more gooseberry notes than previous vintages, but there’s still enough sweet spearmint and pink grapefruit to satisfy. The acidity is lovely and mouthwatering.” Steve Heimoff, March 2009

A GREAT BOTTLE OF WINE, San Francisco Examiner
“A certified organic and biodynamically grown wine from a 126-acre property alongside the Russian River. The nose is fragrant citrus fruit, lemon lime, melon and just enough minerality and grassiness to make your mouth water. The finish is long and lean and will not allow just one glass. Food friendly and perfect with fillet of Sole, Asparagus, Scampi, or all by itself” January 2008
